Would you like to do, not expensive holidays ? Here you will find some places that I could visit during my stay in Crete.

In order to facilitate us and to be able to move on the island, we decided to rent a car. The roads are very winding but we quickly understood the way to use the road. Emergency stop strips are used as an overtaking lane. You have to be a little more cautious in the city where there are a lot of cars coming from all directions and the markings on the ground are, for the most of them, very erased.

By Europcar (the company with which we rented our car), you have to be at least 21 years old and have since year you license to rent a car. My boyfriend entering these conditions, we could rent a car with no problem.

I put you, down below, my trip in Crete.

As you can see, we spent the three first nights in Agia Pelagia (around 20km away from Heraklion) in a nice little apartment with a wonderful view of the island and the sea. We arrived late that's why there is no further indication for the first day.

Matala

During our second day in Crete, we drove from Agia Pelagia to Matala. This a pretty touristic place, you will find many restaurants et little shops. There is also a nice little beach. And then came back in Agia Pelagia in the evening.

Agia Pelagia

The 3rd day, we decided to stay in Agia and enjoying the sun, laying at the swimming pool and then at the beach. On the edge of this beach, you will find very nice little restaurants where the staff is really welcoming.

Lake Kournas

Then arrives the 4th day, it is time to leave our beautiful view, we are moving to Chania (La Canée). On the road, we drove through Rethymnon but we didn't really stop. Near Rethymnon you will find Lake Kournas, it is small but nice. There, you have the possibility to take a pedal boat ride or drink something on the terrace.

Chania (District de La Canée)

In the middle of the afternoon, we arrived in our new apartment in the district of chania, a bit further than the city of Chania. Beautiful place! Despite the wind we decided to stay by the pool with sea view!

Elafonisi

We stayed only one night in Chania to then direct us to Elafonisi. We drove the entire morning to arrive there.

Having only arrived in the beginning of the afternoon, we could, on that day, already enjoy the beach.

During our 6th day on the island, we spent the entire day at Elafonisi Beach. This beach is just beautiful! With sometimes its pink sand and its always light blue water. You'll be amazed and can take great pictures! Don't need to go far to find beautiful beaches!

Héraklion

Almost the end of the journey on the island … We took the road to go back to Heraklion. During that day, we had the time to go to Knossos, the most famous archeological site of Crete. Being not very interested in history we didn't take any guide and visited by ourselves. It is not very big, so the tour is fast done.

The entry is 15.- but don't forget your student ID if you have one because it will be free.

Agios Nikolaos

Last day, it is almost time to go home … We had the flight at 20:45pm so still the time to do something during the day. So, we decided to drive to Agios Nikolaos (The Cretan St-Tropez as everybody says). There, we took some pictures and drank ice tea on a terrace next to the water.

On the way back, we stopped at the Cretaquarium, you have understood it is the Cretan Aquarium. There are large windows in which you will find all kind of fish including sharks. The entry was 6.-.

After our last visits, we headed to the airport, even if we were too early. I warn you that there is not much to do, it is small and a bit creepy.
